Small wind turbine · 1 kW class

1 kW small wind turbine

The first size that changes a household's electricity bill rather than just topping up a battery. A 2.4 m rotor and a 1 kW alternator produce about 2,000 kWh a year in a 5 m/s site — half a European home, or all of an efficient off-grid one.

  • 2.8 m/sCut-in wind
  • 2.4 mRotor
  • IP54Nacelle

The WT-1000H is where grid-tie becomes realistic. With the 1 kW inverter option the turbine synchronises to the local grid, exports surplus to the meter and shuts down within 200 ms if the grid disappears — the anti-islanding requirement every utility asks about.

On the battery side, a 48 V / 200 Ah lithium bank plus 1.5 kW of PV gives a cabin full autonomy in a mixed wind-solar climate. The controller can be set to prioritise wind at night and PV during the day without any manual switching.

Design details

2.4 m rotor on a 12 m tower

Puts the hub at 12 m, above the turbulent layer created by trees and single-storey roofs.

Grid-tie with anti-islanding

230 V / 50 Hz or 120 V / 60 Hz, THD below 4 %, certified to the islanding standard your utility requires.

Electromagnetic braking plus furling

Two independent overspeed systems; the brake can be triggered manually from the controller for storm shut-down.

Condition monitoring ready

RS485 output for rotor speed, DC voltage, current and cumulative kWh — readable from a PLC or our logger.

Where it is used

Grid-tied homes

Cuts 1,500–2,500 kWh a year off the bill where net metering or self-consumption tariffs exist.

Off-grid houses

48 V system with 5–10 kWh of storage; the turbine carries the winter nights.

Small business and farms

Irrigation pumps, cold rooms and workshop loads in rural areas with weak single-phase supply.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect a 1 kW turbine to the grid myself?
Not legally in most countries. The inverter must be installed and commissioned by a licensed electrician who signs off the anti-islanding settings and the utility interconnection application. We supply the inverter, the certificate of conformity and the settings sheet.
How much wind do I need for 1 kW?
Rated output needs 11 m/s, but that is not the number that matters. At a 5 m/s annual average you get about 2,000 kWh; at 4 m/s, about 1,150 kWh; at 6 m/s, about 3,000 kWh. Measure for at least three months at hub height before you buy.
What is included in a complete 1 kW system?
Turbine head, three blades, nacelle, 12 m tilt-up tower, controller or inverter, dump load, cable, foundation drawing and installation manual. Batteries and PV are quoted separately.
